We are excited about our prospects each year. These programs have sent individuals and teams to the State Championship Competition in each of the last 11 years. We like to have fun with the team but I assure you there will be days when we work very hard and your children will come home very tired. Our overall goal is to make this an enjoyable experience for you and your children.

Areas of Emphasis
Academics
The term “student-athlete” means we are here as students first, athletes second. Grades are checked regularly and students are not eligible to practice or compete if failing more than one class. This is a KHSAA regulation and non-negotiable. Also, there is a direct correlation between successful academics and attendance. All students should strive to addend school all day, every day.
Attitude
All members of the teams should conduct themselves as honest, prudent, well-behaved individuals. Behavioral issues will not be tolerated. Students represent the school when at meets, on the bus, at restaurants, and at practice and are expected to be on their best behavior at all times.
Practice
On this site is the practice and meet schedule as it stands today. This will likely be revised once or twice throughout the year as meets may be canceled or change dates. Note the following:
- We will practice (or have a meet) every weekday until the end of the season. Attendance is expected at every practice and every meet. Early season work is important to build the conditioning base the athletes will need. Many of the athletes will be in decent shape coming from other sports but Track & Cross Country is very different in the requirements of conditioning. Other students will be starting new.
- There will be different workouts for students at different levels. We will allow athletes to join during the season but they will already be behind the rest of the team in conditioning and when the team begins to work on more specific workouts, the late-comers will still be conditioning.
- We know many students have other activities, but at the same time the student must put forth the effort in order for them to improve and be part of the team.
- There is no grade limit on who can participate in Track & Cross Country. However, if the students are below the 2nd grade we will require a parent to be nearby practice and meets at all times. The younger ones will not participate in all aspects of the training and may often be released earlier than 6:00 pm as their workouts finish.
- Any miss behavior will also be handled quickly by immediately sending the students home.
